The AFA of WA Inc. was founded in WA in 1968.
Formally it was known as The Pegasus Association.
Membership is open to all ex Airborne Forces associated personnel with Friend membership available to all ex British soldiers wanting to continue association with kindred spirits.
The Association exists for the purposes of Furthering the interests of Airborne forces members past and present of any member country of the British Commonwealth and it’s allies.
Our first ANZAC Day March through the City of Perth in 3 years due to COVID 19 lockdowns and restrictions was conducted on 25th April 2022. Unfortunately, with COVID 19 rampaging through the Perth community our numbers on Parade were affected and a considerable number of our members who had planned to participate were unable to do so due to having COVID 19, or who were Close Contacts of someone else who had the virus.
Needless to say, those who were able to parade were very happy to be able to do so again and for some new Association members it was there first ANZAC Day with us and it was great to see so many different coloured Berets and a range of Cap-Badges within our ranks.
We were delighted to see the family of one of our former members Albert Willday who passed away on 7th November 2020. The family came along to wish us well.
We also had a visit from one of our senior members Malcolm Weatherhead who was unable to parade but turned up in all his finery, PARA Regiment beret and all, to wish us well.
After the Parade we of course retired to the ‘Mess’ for some refreshments, food, banter and we were suitably entertained by our Association Piper, Dave Carr.
Ms Cherie de Blank captured the day perfectly and has kindly shared her photographs with us.
If you would like to be Parade with us in 2023 please get in touch so we can arrange membership. Contact us here or our Airborne Forces Association of Western Australia Facebook page here.
Lest we forget.
